How does a tiny seed grow into a plant?
একটি ছোট্ট বীজ কীভাবে গাছে পরিণত হয়?
A seed rests quietly in the soil. When it gets enough water, it absorbs the water and begins to swell. This wakes up the tiny plant inside the seed and starts the growing process.
একটি বীজ মাটির ভেতরে চুপচাপ থাকে। পর্যাপ্ত পানি পেলে বীজটি পানি শোষণ করে এবং ফুলে উঠতে শুরু করে। তখন বীজের ভেতরে থাকা ছোট্ট গাছটি জেগে ওঠে এবং বেড়ে ওঠার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়।
Next, a tiny root comes out of the seed and grows down into the soil. The roots take in water and nutrients from the soil and help hold the young plant in place.
এরপর বীজ থেকে একটি ছোট্ট শিকড় বের হয়ে মাটির নিচের দিকে বাড়তে থাকে। শিকড় মাটি থেকে পানি ও পুষ্টি গ্রহণ করে এবং ছোট্ট গাছটিকে মাটিতে শক্তভাবে ধরে রাখে।
Soon, a little shoot grows upward and comes out of the soil. Tiny green leaves begin to open. The young plant uses sunlight, water, and air to keep growing.
কিছুদিন পর একটি ছোট্ট চারা ওপরের দিকে বেড়ে মাটির বাইরে বেরিয়ে আসে। ছোট ছোট সবুজ পাতা খুলতে শুরু করে। গাছটি সূর্যের আলো, পানি ও বাতাস ব্যবহার করে আরও বড় হতে থাকে।
With enough sunlight, water, air, and nutrients, the little plant grows taller and stronger. It makes more leaves, and some plants later grow beautiful flowers or fruits.
পর্যাপ্ত সূর্যের আলো, পানি, বাতাস ও পুষ্টি পেলে ছোট্ট গাছটি ধীরে ধীরে লম্বা ও শক্তিশালী হয়। এতে আরও পাতা জন্মায়, আর কিছু গাছে পরে সুন্দর ফুল বা ফলও হয়।

Put a bean seed on damp cotton in a clear cup. Keep the cotton moist and place the cup near a bright window. Check it every day with an adult and watch for the root and shoot to appear. Do not eat the experiment.
