গাছগুলো কেন তাদের বীজ নতুন জায়গায় পাঠায়?
Why do plants need seeds to travel to new places?
কিছু বীজ খুবই হালকা বা তাদের চারপাশে ছোট ডানা বা লোম থাকে। হাওয়া এগুলোকে মায়ের গাছ থেকে দূরে উড়িয়ে নেয়। উদাহরণ: ড্যান্ডেলিয়ন (ঘাসফুল) ও তুলার বীজ।
Some seeds are very light or have little wings or hairs. Wind can blow them far from the mother plant. Examples are dandelion and cotton seeds.
যেসব বীজ ভাসতে পারে, তারা নদী বা সমুদ্রপথে যায়। নারকেল একটি ভালো উদাহরণ। এটা ভাসতে পারে এবং নতুন তটে পৌঁছে বেড়ে উঠতে পারে।
Seeds that can float travel on rivers or the sea. The coconut is a good example. It can float and reach a new beach to grow.

Some seeds stick to fur or clothing and drop later. Other seeds are inside fruits. Animals eat the fruit and later pass the seeds in their droppings far away.

Seeds use many tricks: some spin like a helicopter, some float, and some hide inside tasty fruits.
