Asha found an old paper under a bench in the courtyard. The paper had a simple map with three marks.
আশা আঙিনার বেঞ্চের নিচে একটা পুরনো কাগজ পেল। কাগজে তিনটা চিহ্নসহ একটি সহজ মানচিত্র ছিল। আশা তার বন্ধু রাফিকে বলতে ছুটে গেল।
Asha found an old paper under a bench in the courtyard. The paper had a simple map with three marks. Asha ran to tell her friend Rafi. "Come, Rafi! Let’s find it," she said.
আশা আঙিনার বেঞ্চের নিচে একটা পুরনো কাগজ পেল। কাগজে তিনটা চিহ্নসহ একটি সহজ মানচিত্র ছিল। আশা তার বন্ধু রাফিকে বলতে ছুটে গেল। “চল, রাফি! এটা খুঁজে বের করি,” সে বলল।
They looked at the first mark. The map said: 'Start at the big mango tree.' They ran to the big mango tree near the house. Under the tree was a small stone with an arrow drawn on it.
তারা প্রথম চিহ্নটা দেখল। মানচিত্রে লেখা ছিল: “বড় আমগাছ থেকে শুরু করো।” তারা বাড়ির পাশে বড় আমগাছের কাছে দৌড়ে গেল। গাছের নিচে একটা ছোট পাথরে একটি তীর আঁকা ছিল।
The arrow pointed right. They walked right past three mango trees. Rafi counted the trees one, two, three. At the third tree they found a tied red ribbon on a branch.
তীরটি ডান দিকে ইঙ্গিত করল। তারা ডান দিকে তিনটা আমগাছ পেরিয়ে গেল। রাফি গাছগুলো এক, দুই, তিন বলে গুনল। তৃতীয় গাছের ডালে তারা বাঁধা লাল ফিতা পেল।
The map said: 'From the ribbon, go left until you see a pond.' They turned left and walked slowly. Asha saw the pond sparkle behind some tall grass. The map had one more mark near the pond.

Near the pond a small path led to a pile of dry leaves. They brushed the leaves away together. Under the leaves was a tin box with a lock. "How will we open it?" Rafi asked. They decided to take the box home and ask Abbu and Ammu if it was safe before sharing.
পুকুরের ধারে একটি ছোট পথ ছিল; পথের শেষে শুকনো পাতার একটা স্তূপ ছিল। তারা একসাথে পাতাগুলো সরাল। পাতার নিচে তালা লাগানো টিনের বাক্স ছিল। “আমরা এটা কীভাবে খুলব?” রাফি জিজ্ঞাসা করল। তারা ঠিক করল বাক্সটা বাড়ি নিয়ে গিয়ে আব্বু আর আম্মুকে দেখিয়ে তারপর সবার সাথে ভাগ করবে।
That evening they ran home to tell their families. Abbu and Ammu smiled when they heard the story and checked the box. They opened it and found mango slices and two wooden whistles. "It’s safe," they said. Everyone washed hands, then they shared the mango and tried the whistles together.
সেই সন্ধ্যায় তারা দৌড়ে বাড়ি গিয়ে পরিবারকে সব বলল। আব্বু আর আম্মু গল্প শুনে হাসলেন এবং বাক্সটি দেখে পরীক্ষা করলেন। তারা বাক্সটি খুলে ভেতরে আমের টুকরো আর দুটি কাঠের সিটি পেলেন। “নিরাপদ,” তারা বললেন। সবাই হাত ধুয়ে নিল, তারপর তারা আম ভাগ করে খেল এবং একসাথে সিটি বাজাল।
The next day Asha and Rafi planned one more safe map for their friends. They were proud and happy.
পরের দিন আশা আর রফি তাদের বন্ধুদের জন্য আরেকটি নিরাপদ মানচিত্র বানানোর পরিকল্পনা করল। তারা গর্বিত আর খুশি ছিল।
