How do trees help make cities cooler, cleaner and friendlier for animals?

Leaves make shade. Shade blocks direct sun from roads and buildings. Trees also cool the air a little when water in leaves turns into vapor. Together this lowers the local temperature on hot days.
পাতা ছায়া দেয়। ছায়া সরাসরি রোদ রাস্তায় আর বিল্ডিংয়ে পৌঁছাতে বাধা দেয়। পাতায় থাকা পানি বাষ্পে পরিণত হয়ে বাতাস একটু ঠান্ডা করে। একসঙ্গে গরম দিনে আশপাশের তাপমাত্রা কমে যায়।
Trees take in air and use tiny holes in leaves to breathe. They trap dust and small particles on their leaves and bark. Some gases from cars and factories are used by trees or stick to leaves, so the air becomes cleaner.
গাছ বাতাস নেয় এবং পাতার ছোট ছোট ছিদ্র দিয়ে শ্বাস নেয়। তারা ধুলো আর ক্ষুদ্র কণা পাতায় ও ছালে ধরে রাখে। গাড়ি বা কারখানার কিছু গ্যাস গাছ শোষণ করে বা পাতায় লেগে থাকে, ফলে বাতাস পরিষ্কার হয়।
Branches, leaves and tree holes give homes for birds, insects and small mammals. Flowers give nectar and fruits give food. Even dead wood helps many small animals live and grow.
