Why does a magnet pull some things toward it?

A magnet can pull some metal objects toward it. Try bringing a magnet close to a paper clip or an iron nail. It can pull them without even touching them first!
চুম্বক কিছু ধাতব জিনিসকে নিজের দিকে টানতে পারে। একটি পেপার ক্লিপ বা লোহার পেরেকের কাছে চুম্বক ধরো। দেখবে, স্পর্শ করার আগেই চুম্বক সেটিকে নিজের দিকে টানতে পারে!
Paper clips and iron nails can stick to a magnet, but things made of wood, paper, or plastic usually do not. Magnets only attract certain materials.
পেপার ক্লিপ ও লোহার পেরেক চুম্বকে আটকাতে পারে। কিন্তু কাঠ, কাগজ বা প্লাস্টিকের জিনিস সাধারণত চুম্বকে আটকায় না। চুম্বক শুধু কিছু নির্দিষ্ট পদার্থকে আকর্ষণ করে।
Every magnet has two ends called poles. One is the north pole and the other is the south pole. Different poles pull toward each other, while the same poles push away.
